THIS is the Stones album we've been waiting for since Tattoo You. What a great album, front to back.

If you don't know...this all girl group got forgotten about between the Ramones, The Go-Go's and the Bangles.

Listen close and you can hear where Joan Jett lifts a lot of her "original" material from.

They were just a bit overlooked and swamped over when REM, U2 and the B-52's took off.

Anyone else know that he was instrumental in Stevie recording this song? Even played on his version too!

Oh yah! Back-in-the-day when I got the vinyl record, I was laying in my bed listening to “Talking Book” while reading the credits and saw Jeff’s name. Thought it was really cool but of course never knew the back story on how and why he was on the record. Was also pumped to see Buzzy Feiten’s name too. “Looking for Another Pure Love” with Jeff’s solo is actually my favorite song from the album. Years later I would learn more about the collaboration and why “Superstition” was on BBA’s album but don’t remember where I read it. Mighta been in Rolling Stone (…when it was a REAL informative publication…), mighta been on the Internet. Nonetheless it was a very cool thing. Saw BBA in 1973 and Jeff used his talk box to intro “Superstition”.

The Eagles - The Millennium Concert

Disc 4 of the "Selected Works 1972 - 1999 box set

I'mma big fan of the early Eagles, especially the first 4 albums. Never really cottoned to the Joe Walsh era so I'mma lukewarm on "Hotel California" and "The Long Run".

Frank Zappa - The Yellow Shark

I was a soft fan back in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, in fact, saw him on my 18th birthday. The Mothers of Invention band included Jean-Luc Ponty and George Duke but didn’t know who they were that night. The only song I can remember from that show is “Don’t Eat the Yellow Snow”.

My favorite Zappa Album I wore out two copies on vinyl. After I bought the third copy, I recorded it on reel to reel tape, and put the vinyl up.

The other day I picked up a Ramones CD from the library

Rockaway Beach - Starbucks Opus Collection

I didn’t pay any attention to the listing when I searched the library catalog so missed the Starbucks part. I’mma sure I would have requested it, regardless of the SB connection but I did have a “WTF” moment when I looked at the jacket and liner notes.

Nonetheless, I hadn’t listened to the group since my days at the record store so it was great to relive those youthful years.

Hadn't listened to much of them but for some odd reason, I heard a lot of influence from U2.

Wow... I mean, I've always been a fan of Chicago. I did not quite realize how friggin' good Terry Kath was. So sad we lost that guy before he was 32. Damn.

Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold As Love

Every so often we’d pop this on when I was working in the record store but today is the first time sitting down in front of my home speakers and giving it a go. Jimi and JBL’s were made for each other.

Joe Jackson - a comp CD of my favorites from 1979 to 1982.

A big fan of Joe’s earlier career but his foray onto classical and soundtracks left me puzzled. “Laughter and Lust” brought me back but always go back to his late ‘70s and early’80s recordings for sit down listening.

Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland

This was actually the first Hendrix album I ever bought. Got it used from a head shop for about $3. Literally wore out the grooves but luckily a few years later I worked in a retail record store and swapped out my old copies for brand new ones. A small perk for working in the biz.
