Got antibiotics for 2 weeks for him. Doctor looked at his wound and said to leave it open to the air and try not to let him lick at it. It's going to heal, but since he took the damn stitches out, it's gonna be a bigger scar than it should have been. d'oh!

No limp... seems like it doesn't bother him all that much.

Swithched cars with my wife today so that I could get the last piece of auto-body treplacement rim installed after it finally came in. Went to pool afterwards to get a little exercise and realized I didn't have my swim bag with me with my kickboard, fins, and other work-out equipment because they were in my trunk. Figured, OK- I'll just swim simple laps instead. Got to the pool and got ready to head to the water when... I realized my goggles and earplugs were in the forgotten swim bag too. Scrapped the workout as a result. F me!

New apartment (It's actually a triple decker which are common in the New England area). Rent doesn't include snow removal. I hate shoveling. Talked with the neighbor downstairs and he has a snow blower but it crapped out on him half way through last winter so all three floors pitched in to shovel out or they called for a plow guy to do the driveway. However, since it was mid winter and the plow guy was already booked for the snow storms the house was lower on the totem pole for getting plowed out.

I have a lead on a couple of snow blowers from some guy in town that does small engine repair as a side job. I wasn't actively looking at this time but a friend sent me the lead. The small engine guy seems trustworthy. We texted back and forth and he has 2 blowers that he's looking to sell: a Craftsman and a Husqvarna. His asking price is a couple hundred bucks for each.

He did a tune up and routine maintenance on them over the summer but the owners moved and told him to just keep the snow blowers. He wants to get them out of his garage and get rid of them. He says both fire up on the first pull and run smooth. The Husqvarna also has electric start but it needs a needs a shear pin on one of the augers (no big deal). The Craftsman is a bit smaller and he says it also fires right up on first pull but doesn't have electric start. No biggie for me, but I think I'll go for the Husqvarna. I think both of them use Briggs & Stratton engines.

Prolly go check them out this weekend and if all is well and good, just pay him cash. Then I'll have to touch base with a friend that has a pickup truck to go get it and bring it home.

Or I could just "drive" it home. His house is about a mile away. Fire that bitch up and drive it or ride it home (if it has self driving wheels, strap a lawn chair on it for the ride but I'd have to get off to stop at cross walks and make turns and stuff). That would be funny... crossing through my little downtown this Saturday or Sunday "driving" a snowblower while smoking a cigar.

I don't think that it's illegal do so.
Awkward? Yes!
People looking at me with the WTF face? Yes.
Rather humorous? Yes.
Cops would probably stop me and send me to the hospital for a psychological evaluation.

It'd be like a Saturday Night Live skit

Laugh

Since the previous one (the only one that I know of), I bought and use a bike helmet.

Weather folks are predicting a heat index temperature in the mid 90's today. Some towns are canceling school or are doing an early release for the rest of the week because it's too hot (many schools out here don't have air conditioning).

If legal, I'd absolutely go for it. Thing about Awkward is that once you master it, it becomes more fun. With the added benefit of people generally giving you a wider berth, making for a more serene life.

I know a guy like that.

Got the gym done, showered and shaved, went and got a haircut and a new flag/flagpole for the garage... while I was in the exchange I saw Russell's Reserve 6 yr rye for $34.46 so I grabbed that, too.

Got home, wife says we need propane. Flag pole I needed was a 1" diameter. One I got was 3/4" but it was $11 so... meh.

Went to HD got the right size flag/flagpole and propane. Also have a 3'x5' Don't Tread On Me flag arriving today. That's going on the pole for awhile... nice to switch it out with Old Glory here and there. One I bought at the exchange is same size, so I'll keep it to put it in the rotation.

Old one needs to be burned. When my neighbor fires up his burn barrel I'll bring it over.

Some of my neighbors have them. But then I'd have to put it up and take it down. This one I can leave 24/7 because there's a light on my garage frame, right where I put it. If you leave a flag flying at night, it has to be lit up. Where I have it works...

You know the flag rules! I did the same thing in Cali. Added bonus: it offended the commies 24/7.

I learned a few things in the Navy. Wasn't all just fun and games ya know. Mellow

You have colors at 8am every day. Ship or shore... flag goes up while the anthem is played. Evening colors varies by day. At sunset you take the colors down while Taps is played.

Visited the snowblower. Both fired up just fine (Husqvarna both pull and electric start, Craftsman just pull start). Seemed like everything worked just fine. Bought the Husqvarna, it's bigger, almost beastly. Might be overkill but it's more power and bigger cut (insert Tim Allen Home Improvement dog bark).

Thinking that if we have 3 ft of snow in a day and at the end of the driveway after the plows go by, I'd be kicking myself for buying the smaller one.

Husqvarna also has bigger wheels and powered drive. I forget if the Craftsman one had powered wheels (shrug). I was set on grabbing the Husqvarna. I'll need to buy some shear pins. Back when I had a snowblower years ago, I'd shear off at least 2 pins each winter. Hunk of ice or a fallen limb could shear of a pin (by design). Typically an easy fix but when your fingers are frozen and can't find the right size wrench or socket, it's time to call it quits for a bit.

Just need to get it from there to here (a mile and a half away on the other side of the center of town). Shouldn't be a problem.

When mine get tattered and need to be replaced, I drop them off at the local VFW. They collect them. About twice a year, they have a ceremony with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Fold them all and burn them appropriately.
