Well apparently almost all the cbid golf experts are quite certain the winning score will be -10 to -12.
Can’t remember such a tight score spread on DED’s contest…

The outlier is Palama. With all the beautiful courses in Hawaii he ought to know something about golf. We'll see.

Zalatoris was looking good until he boggied and Clark's ball stopped off for a drink.

Scheffler is leading our group at -6 with on to play. Kinda windy day.

Golf is a brutal game…
Edit
After lookimg at today’s scores…….dom’t think Hideki gonna make the cut

Hahahahahahaha! Tried to golf. Even took Golf 101 during my Sophomore year in college. Apparently of no help but, as a poor 19 year old, I basically couldn’t afford the sport. The cost of the clubs and having to pay-to-play just wasn’t in my budget. But tennis? The boom was at its height. More chances, mebbe, to meet chicks in the tennis class or at the courts. Plus, other than the cost of a can of balls, around $1.50 to $2.00, tennis was relatively cheap. I also enjoyed the Mano y Mano nature as opposed to golf’s mental battle as well as being able to take my shirt off while playing and not have to wear a frickin’ button collared shirt!

And hey, when it starts to rain, tennis players may or may not wait around to let the rain pass and play when the courts dry up. Iffin’ it doesn’t clear up, you go with your friend(s) to eat or have a few beers. In golf, you take out your rain jacket and umbrella but still continue despite getting drenched. ‘Course you can drink while playing golf so there is one + aspect to it but not enough for me. Of course ymmv.

I was on the 7th grade golf team……….I suqed.
This was 1968, and I bought a set of clubs at a yard sale.
I still have the 3 wood from that set, mounted on my office wall.
The pro at the club I work at thinks it is from the 30s.

Never saw anyone playing tennis puffin' on a cigar.

Spunky was a tennis player when we met so we played often. IIRC my friggin' racket cost over $200 and that was 1990's.
Never could beat her even though I weigh 100 lbs more. It was like hitting in a phone booth. No matter where or how hard I hit it, it just came back at me.

Max Homa - Managed -5 first round even with two bogies. Fifth appearance and has performed better each year. Of course anyone needs to keep it together through 4 rounds, but maybe one to watch ?

Seems to have been skipped over by the entrants here. Think

The wind was blowing so hard during the second round that sand was blowing from the bunkers. Almost nobody was under par for the round.

Scheffler -6
Schaffele E
Cantly +2
Zalatoris +3
McIlroy +4
Finau +5
Matsuyama +6
Fowler +6

The cut line is projected to be +6
Clark +7
Couples +12

How tough was it yesterday? Only 14 rounds of par or better with -3 leading the way. Even in the worst conditions a player or two will shoot a 5 or 6 under and jump up the leaderboard. The wind forecast for today is 9mph gusting to 23mph, we'll see how much moving is done on moving day.

On a sad side note, after 23 consecutive cuts made, my man Freddie will not be playing the weekend.

DED,
I humbly apologize for misspelling the name of my golfer. I’m not up on the sport so I apologize for the error.

I inadvertently typed Matsuyama….. I meant Morikawa.

A simple mistake from a simple white boy.

Please make the change as appropriate.

After further review the committee says you misspelled Morikawa's first name Collin as "Hideki".

Denied!

One of our son’s best friends from pre- and elementary school was “Colin Morikawa” so at the very start of Collins’ career, I thought it was him. Of course when I saw Collin, I quickly realized it wasn’t Colin.
