Band of Brothers on Netflix

It’s been so long since I watched it in its entirety that it’s almost like watching it for the first time. I’ve caught various random episodes throughout the years but never beginning to end.

I own it, and watch it regularly. My wife wanted to watch it all the way through for the 1st time. She really enjoyed it. I told her that my grandfather was there on D-Day on Omaha Beach. He was one of the soldiers that didn't have enough points and had to go island hopping. He never talked about War. I found his box of "souvenirs" once when we lived in California. Arm bands, Hitler youth knife, belt buckles, flags from both Germany and Japan. I can remember the one from Japan being bullet riddled and blood stained, photos and letters, a Nazi helmet. A lot of stuff for a kid in the early 70's raised on "Rat Patrol" and "Combat" to stumble on. I remember him coming up the attic steps and seeing the stuff out of the box. He didn't yell and scream it was out. He walked over and started putting it back into the box one item at a time. I'd ask questions and he'd say "I'm not old enough" and brush me off. I do remember him saying that "War makes good men do terrible things and sometimes they don't get to come back home."

Nobody but Speilberg and Hanks could deliver that great mini-series. Their success with "Saving Private Ryan" and their devotion to the "Greatest Generation" resonated with this. Never watched the follow up to it "The Pacific". I believe I'll start that this weekend.

Watched "the little things" on Prime last night. Denzel Washington is awesome in every movie he's in.

Can't think of one that I didn't like...

If anyone is a diehard fan of Edgar Allen Poe's works then connecting the dots of "The Fall of the House Usher" is quality viewing. It's really done well and the "Easter eggs" are littered throughout every episode. Might watch it again now we've I've seen it through.

Been watching "The Heist" lately. I just started season two and it's a damn good series so far.

I thought it was only one "season" and when I got to the end and NOTHING was wrapped up or concluded I was really confused... Then I noticed the other "seasons"...

Watching world series now but wanted to recommend the series Spartacus to those who liked the movie Gladiator. Also if u liked Band of Brothers check out The Pacific. It's a 10 part 10 hr. series about the other front of WW2.

The Mummy..with Tom "Scientologist Extraordinaire" Cruise....good, but Universal dumped it all. Great premise, cudda gone somewhere...Naw...moved on.

Still, worth a watch and now a +1 to the other movies I'd watch again with him in it...

Spartacus can be found on the free streaming app Tubi. Lots of old and rare stuff can be found on Tubi. I've found shows I used to watch as a kid and completely forgotten about. Completely free and way less ads then when watching live television. Spartacus: Blood and Sand is a newer series that stars Hugh Laurie (Dr.House) and Lucy Lawless (Xena warrior princess). Just be aware it's extremely mature with copious amounts of blood, nudity, and vulgar language.

Is that part of the original Mummy series with Brendan Fraser or is it it's own thing?

For some reason when you mentioned “Spartacus” I thought you meant the series. I haven’t watched the movie in a l-o-n-g time but will look for it. Thanks.

This was a reboot of the Universal monster movies. It was part of the Dark Universe.

https://movieweb.com/dark-universe-all-the-canceled-movies-monsters/

The Brenden Fraser movies share the name only. They were great as well.

When you watch the newer Mummy...you see Easter Eggs for The Monster From The Black Lagoon, Dracula, Frankenstein, Jekyll & Hyde.

I'm no Tom Cruise fanboi. I actually loathe his acting. He's one dimensional and flat to hamhanded with his delivery. Often times playing the same character in a different movie. I lump him right up there with Will Smith. My wife watched about 15 minutes of it and I walked into the room, she suggested it's something I might like. I did.

I was referring to the series. It's 4 seasons. Im currently in the 3rd season. Never heard of the movie unless you're referring to "300" the movie about the 300 Spartans.

Haha! You’re a youngun’ ain’t yah? Laugh

I don’t know when the movie came out but musta been in the ‘60s or so. Musta watched it on TV a couple times when I was growing up. I had heard of the series a few years ago but at the time, I wasn’t into watching stuff on Netflix, Prime, etc. I saw that the series is available on Tubi so was gonna look for it later this week.

Never saw the whole movie, only bits and pieces. Still have to watch it in chunks since sitting straight through a near 3 hour movie is not in my DNA.
