Oh boy. Tough one Al. Sorry to hear about your sister but glad to hear that you found a facility that can properly take care of her.

Sounds like a tough situation Al. I think most of us hope to live a long life but not be a burden on our family in our old age. Unfortunately, that is not always the case.

Prayers for your family delta. I’m not sure if this is helpful, but whenever I confirm a dementia diagnosis, I recommend this book to the family.

The Dementia Caregiver's Survival Guide: An 11-Step Plan to Understand the Disease and How To Cope with Financial Challenges, Patient Aggression, and Depression Without Guilt, Overwhelm, or Burnout https://a.co/d/c1tsPl0

My clients’ families have let me know it’s very helpful.

Also, good morning everyone

I have an HP Envy 17" touchscreen laptop. Can't recall how long I have had it, but it's starting to sheit the bed on me. Screen goes all scramble-y and it locks up. I have to force shut it down, and then it starts right back up and is fine for a while, until it does it again. Never know when it's going to happen.

Costco has a similar one for $900.

You computer guys... what is it? Bad motherboard? Or is it just old and time to replace it? Or maybe is it fkn windows because I haven't bumped up to 11 yet?

Fkn computers... It's a love hate relationship.

Just checked my Costco account... I bought it over 2 years ago, because the site only goes back to January of 2021 and it was before that.

had to move my sister out of the assisted living senior center because she was falling so frequently and injuring herself. She was there less than a year before they told us they are unable to provide the care she needs. They told us she could stay if we paid for a 24/7 live in aide that would be there to help her move around without falling. That would cost $650/day on top of the monthly fee of $7,200 for their regular services, for a total of $27,000/month. Outrageous!!! They suggested we find a residential care facility that could provide the type of care she needs. This was tantamount to an eviction notice.

After an extensive search in our area, we found a residential care facility near our house that provides 24/7/365 care, two care-givers on site around the clock, supervised by a former nurse. She has a private bedroom and there are only four other residents. 3 meals/day, snacks, laundry service, housecleaning, diaper service, assistance to the bathroom and bathing/showering, help getting dressed...all for less than her monthly fee at the senior center. And the primary care-givers are friendly, helpful and personable.

sister can no longer walk on her own with a walker...very little strength in her left arm and leg...spends most of the day in a transport chair and has to be pushed around...needs help getting out of, and into bed...her short-term memory is almost non-existent...breathtaking how rapidly her mental and physical health has deteriorated in the last couple of years.

Prayers for her and your family. Pray
FWIW, my wife managed four skilled care facilities and is a Medicare expert. She will give you any help, even with applications, should you need it. The offer remains open indefinitely...

Take it to a local computer shop first. Not Geek Squad or the like. They are a total rip off.

Costco is a great place to buy laptops. They offer a one year extended warranty if you purchase one with a Costco Visa. They also offer two and three year long warranties from squareTrade/Allstate.L astly, if you buy your computer from Costco, they provide free telephone technical assistance for the life of the computer.(Told you to buy one at Costco last time, but if IRC you went to Best Buy.)

Anyhow, I am in laptop hell, sitting at the computer store while they download all the data I cleared off before sending it into Square Trade for a new battery, cord, screen and battery- all for the $65 I paid for the warranty. Second day in a row. I feel your pain.

I did buy this laptop from Costco. At the advice of the Gerbil... he sent me the link to the one that best fit. I can get the same one from them, with minor upgrades due to this one being a couple/few years old... $983 after tax, title, license, and delivery. Brick wall

Use their credit card and buy the extended warranty and you will get 3-4 years out of a new one- if your current one can't be fixed.

Also, as I walk around the computer shop fI am stuck at right now for software/data installations, I see around 25 used computers, all only about one year old, totally refurbished, for around just $200-300. They are all I5 and I7 chips, loaded with RAM and come with great warranties at no extra cost. Think

Sounds like maybe a video processor or overheating or both. Are you up to taking it apart to clean out the fan(s)? You can blow it out but you need to shove a wire into the fan blades to prevent it from over-spinning when hit with compressed air.

New is nice, Costco is good for that. Off lease computers are pretty cheap.

If you have windows 10, it's not that old. Maybe Tank drooled on it while watching puppy porn. You might try calling HP for a diagnosis before you write it off.

My guess issue with windows.Run a diagnosis test and if any issues with hard drive they'll show up. Waiting on HP laptop sent to HP Service. I took out extended warranty and it has been well worth the cost. They replaced last laptop with upgraded one due to many issues with old one. I doubt I would purchase another HP.

I would check out repair costs before spending BIG $$$$ on another.

Good luck 🤞

Doesn't sound quite the same, but my Asus has a bad connection between the screen and the guts of it. Just goes black though, it doesn't freeze. $125 fix I'm trying to put off for a while by never moving the screen

Not clicking on it. By that description line, sounds like code for some piercing and stud job on a For Only site.

I think if I receive your prayers that may violate a phishing policy.

Funny thing is I have to take corporate training for my company plus all my clients since have access to critical systems.

Either way….

Happy International Women’s Day.

The vast majority of biologists say life begins at conception, and there are only 2 genders.
