(the forum above is selected politics, don't blame me if it ends up on cigar forum) I do not blame the left for revealing that story on Bush before the election, it is called the art of political warfare, and the left is much better at it than the right. They are very good at studying their opponents, and instead of attacking their strengths, or their argument, they attack their weaknesses, either by painting them a bad person (ie children will suffer in a multitude of ways whichever way is best for the moment) attacking their integrity and using brilliant one line catch phrases, that the masses will remember, they often need not even bother attacking the actual argument, for they can discredit the person and thus the argument. The right tends to rely too much on their argument and ideas which get bogged down and drawn out, and quickly the masses lose interest. An excellent book, the Art of Political Warfare, written by radical Berkely lefty turned free market conservative David Horowitz lays it out beautifully, and those here that are conservatives like myself, would be wise to study the methods of the left, as they are often masters of this game. What I do take issue with is when laws are broken to achieve desired results, this is where I can bash on Clinton and Gore if I wasn't so bored of them.

Bravo! But on the "personal" level, I have seen the republicans resort to dirty tactics as well. But the real issue you bring up is the ability of the left (which includes the LIBERAL MEDIA) to use Scare Tactics rather than the truth. They never give solutions, they just put the FEAR into voters. Every senior citizen if Florida thought the republicans would take away medicare. Then they were convinced that they voted wrong. Then the leftists created the illusion that Bush would ruin education in America. C'mon, what a load of crap. The Dems measure productivity by HOW MUCH MONEY IS SPENT. NOT by RESULTS! When the republicans want to measure results, they become bigoted and racist. It's absurd, and much of the general population listen with eyes wide shut. They should be EMBARRASED by their sheep-like tendencies, but instead we get More unsubstantiated rhetoric. Cripes, even when they have "facts" to back them up, they fall flat on their face. (Second hand smoke shown NOT to cause cancer in W.H.O. report, and the world wide temps are DECREASING slightly showing that the greenhouse effect was a load of bull).
