“I'm the biggest supporter of President Trump and that's why I fight every single day. And that's why I'm fighting here against my own Republican conference to fight harder against the Democrats,” ~ MTG

Instead of fighting against the opposition perhaps she could learn from the past when members of Congress worked with each other for the greater good. It’s foolish to be an obstructionist. She as well as like-minded people should learn that not everyone agrees with them. As such it’s government’s job to serve all it’s citizens not just those in today’s razor thin majority.

We have been in a long slow decline of government serving the people. My feeling is that at the federal and state level they serve dark money. Though this is different than what you are talking about and I get that.

To your point. There are many obstructionists in both parties. The Republicans are unable to control their's, call it the MTG effect. The Democrats are barely able to control their's and my not be able to over Gaza. Call it the AOC effect.

The extreme right and the extreme left do not represent Americans as a whole. They represent radical Americans in my opinion. This is not good for anyone else. Just a guesstimate on my part, I think at the very most 20% of Americans are being represented. 80% of us are not.

This follows the 80 20 rule of buisness. A smart company quits doing business with the 20 and greatly increases their profitability and efficiency.

The only answer I see is to vote anyone in office out, no matter what their party and no matter what your party. After a few cycles politicians will get the message. You work for us, no one else. Of course this will never happen.

Also there is constant misdirection happening. Let's argue about something we will never change because it is a talking point. Let's make bills so complex that no one knows we took advantage of them. Let's demand pork barrels be included because there is no line item veto.

At least she is actually representing her constituents.

Serving the greater good?

You mean passing laws their handlers write for them?

Pretty much. It’s been that way for decades. That’s how the system works unfortunately. No matter what any candidate says it won’t change either.

I guess you would rather see government come to a complete standstill if you can’t have everything you want? What about the people who want different things than you? Do their wants matter?

Is she really? Or is she just grandstanding? Look at AOC. It could be said the same of her. She certainly hasn’t done anything to improve her constituent’s lives but her grandstanding keeps getting her elected.

I’ll split the difference on this one. I’d rather see the government come to a standstill if I get nothing that I want. This of course I mean on an ongoing process, what is on the table now. It would be easy to say, hey , you’ve got the Bill of Rights, don’t you want them? But that’s what we all already have. An example of what I’m talking about could be the spending bills. Personally, I would not mind if the government shut down for a period of weeks if it resulted in enormous cuts in spending. Yes, it is expensive to shutdown but what they never tell us is that if Congress agrees to cut several trillion or instead of spending a few trillion more, it is cost effective. Think about all the lives impacted by the shutdown? I am. We can take the pain now and try our best to manage through or we can face a more painful, less manageable crisis if we kick the can down the road. They’ve always said this and apparently they were correct. Another example is border security and illegal immigration. If this had fixed when Reagan did his deal making, we’d be in a much less painful and easier managed state with our borders, national security and legal immigration problems. I know it’s easier said than done but this is exactly what I expect Congress to be able to handle. Allen is right about both major parties culling the herd. I think we need a 50% turnover in Congress to flush out some of the crap that is clogging the system. These are just thoughts off the top of my head, not something I’ve chiseled in stone.

For realzy?

If I don’t get everything I want? Well that’s a really kind way to frame that one buddy.

Until government operates closer to the vicinity of their enumerated powers they are NOT doing the peoples business.

They managed to get their precious spy on Americans authorization extended, and their MIC money laundering bill passed……why are you upset?

I’ve made it no secret that some serious cuts need to be made. Problem is no one is willing to compromise. Take MTG for example she’s against spending and wants to replace the Speaker yet she inserted a dozen or more earmarks for her district. Gaetz forced McCarthy out yet he inserted the largest earmark into the same spending bill. So at the end of the day the all talk a good game but behind closed doors they all advocate for more spending.

Reagan supporters like to point to him as a cost reducer. But, he pushed for some lofty spending programs which contributed to the debt as well.

Shutting down the government has done nothing in the past to reduce spending. No reason to think that will change.

Enumerated powers? I’ve heard that tossed around a lot. Give me an example of something down outside those.

Those enumerated powers in that Constitution thing just gets in the way of doing stupid and evil stuff.

Justice Kagan once wrote, "most of government is unconstitutional.". She's a lefty, she should know.

Reagan spent a lot, his defense spending was incredibly high. I thought he punted on the immigration situation too. The earmark spending just goes on unabated. Congressmen make nasty speeches then staple their demands to the spending bill. Makes me sick.

Then, they want a loud-mouthed obstructionists if they re-elect her.

Do you give her props for the way she behaves as a member of the House of Representatives?
And, how about as a Republican?

I am not sure there is a majority in the normal sense. People will vote against Trump or Biden. People will not vote for Trump or Biden but rather refrain from voting or vote for someone else.

Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point. We have got to make some move on this.

^Biden’s comments re: busing and racial integration of public schools. How can they just let that one slide when they nitpick the fly chit out of the pepper pile on statements made by conservatives?
