Great news MACS! Live for another day. Can't be too cautious when it comes to things like this and better to be safe than sorry. The heart is kinda important part of our miraculous machine that we call the human body.

I met with another neurologist the other day for my brain injury. She came to the same conclusion after reviewing the most recent brain scans as the other neurologist I was seeing (I wanted a 2nd opinion). Some of the capillaries in my brain are damaged and sealed off as a result of the head injury. Maybe I shouldn't have told her of my on and off dizzy spells. With that said, I had to be honest with my issues. Positive note, it's a common issue for trauma head injuries. Some blood vessels in the brain seal off but others are there to take take on the extra load.

She recommended that I still don't drive for the next 6 months (she has the ability and the professional responsibility to report the issues to the RMV to cancel my driver's license). I agreed with her to voluntarily not drive and suspend my driver's license.

I couldn't live with myself if I had brain misfire, vertigo, seizure while behind the wheel and then wake up in the hospital to learn I killed someone.

Hopefully things will be back to "normal" with the head issues by July time frame. I'm not sweating it. I have good friends and family to ride with for running errands and stuff if needed. Things will happen when they happen... I'm not in control of it. I can influence it but I can't control it.

Wish I had the ability to provide some good options for you, Buckminster. Here’s all I can muster.
#1: My mom could drive you around (not recommended).
#2: Because I’m not using it very often, you can use my brain.

Re #2. Not sure how I’d get my brain to you, which may make you NOT want to choose mine.

LMK if I should call mom.

We could just get him a new one from the Brain Depositary... Mellow

Thanks guys, I appreciate the best wishes, the jokes and the humor. Not looking for sympathy. When I die I could try to donate my brain to medical science but after they review it, they would probably toss it in the hazardous waste bucket and choose the Abby Normal one.

Maybe if I wore a helmet that day riding my bike this wouldn't have happened. There's nothing anybody can do fix things. I just gotta follow Dr recommendations. I've been though more difficult times and I've survived. I'm sure I'll get thorough this too.

The local/regional city bus service has a shuttle program that covers my town and the surrounding towns. Runs M-F from like 5 AM to 7 PM. You set a schedule with them, tell them where and when to pick you up, and where to drop you off. Then tell them where and when to pick you up and where to drop you off for the return trip. Door to door shuttle service. It gets me to work and back easy enough and the times I scheduled to use it and my pickup/drop off location, I'm usually the only one on the shuttle.

It's like having a personal chauffeur. I pay $205/month - not a bad deal. Price depends on distance from point to point, age (they have student and elderly discounts), and frequency of monthly use. It's rather popular for those that can't or don't drive for one reason or another like medical issues, no vehicle or single car family, college students without a vehicle, your car is in the shop for a couple weeks and need transportation to and from work or school, etc...

Again, I appreciate the best wishes and the humor. I'm not offended if I'm the butt of the jokes based on my own stupidity.

Signed,
Bucky (with a little less fully functional brain matter than I had a last spring).

P.S. If those brain cells can't take a smash on the pavement and some inflammation then maybe I didn't need them anyway. Only the strong survive.

Buck,
The humor I was dispersing was an investment in humor, not meant to be at your expense. Think you know that, but just in case.

I’ll let my mom know she doesn’t have to relocate. (Investment).

Yeah, so my last 2 blood tests showed my eGFR at 72 and 74. Apparently for my age bracket it should be 85-ish. Normal is 90-120.

So I got that going for me. The f'n wheels are falling off this vehicle...

What does the Doc say? Not everyone fits into test criteria nicely.

That test is universal, not individual variable. It's a measure of the kidneys efficiency.

Went to make an appointment, and she saw me right then... wanted to discuss the blood test results. She's not concerned. Says I am taking meds now and I wasn't just a short time ago. We'll just keep an eye on it.

I had a neighbor that had a blind daughter that was registered for a shuttle bus (short bus). There was a benefit to having that neighbor. Every time it snowed, our block had been designated a "level 1" for snow removal like all the major roads. Yep, dump truck plow came down our block to give the bus access if called. We never had a hard time getting out to the major cross streets.

Pain Management procedure this morning.

Just local anesthesia in doctor's office. No thank you to Xanax or Valium. I don't get anxious about stuff like this after having my neck and back injected a couple hundred times over the last 30 years. In fact, I am going alone and driving myself. Radio-Frequency Ablation is the name of the procedure. In my case, it is being used to burn away four upper thoracic (T4-7) sensory nerve-roots.

Basically, it's simply a needle tip placed up against the nerve root and then an electric current from wires attached to the needles. The microwave tip of the needle heats up. This, in turn, burns away the nerve root. The procedure has multiple other uses. But, the cool thing is that the doctor uses video fluoroscopy: x-ray video streaming in real time like a movie. I actually like watching the needle as it approaches my spine. d'oh!

Lasts 18-36 months. Had it several years ago and it worked well. I have had two sets of trial injections of local anesthesia to the nerve roots and both were highly successful.

Went to have an ablation procedure on my esophagus this morning. The doctor told me he can’t do the ablation because they want more biopsies. The last biopsies are looking a little sketchy and Ive had cancerous polyps removed in the past. So now they’re trying to figure out if they want to do surgery or if the ablation procedure will be ok. I’m sick of getting that camera stuck down my neck.

Yeah, hope it all works out for you, Ram... but the pharma companies have absolutely NO f'n bidness charging what they do for pills that cost them pennies to make. All the R&D is done at this point... it's absolutely absurd.

Thanks, Ram. You as well. The prices they charge when insurance is mandatory is ridiculous. I thought the idea was to bring down healthcare costs. It’s all a machine and we are the hamsters on the wheel.

Lots going on with the Brothers. Prayers abound.

Shawn,
Pharma companies will tell you another reason for those ridiculous prices is for R&D on new drugs on the horizon.

There are many kernels of truth on that cob. I’d like to see much more transparency on what salaries, stock, and other benefits they get on the top 10% of these companies payroll.

Not that it would matter. Excess Greed and all time lows in Shame play the big roles in the current situation.

I know a few people who are cutting pills in half and not taking medications at all due to the cost. I get it.

Procedure recovery going really well. Only one anti-inflammatory and one muscle relaxant, with a couple puffs of weed yesterday and I was out of pain the rest of the day. NO pain today. GOOD INDICATOR of likely success!!!
