Just curious, why wouldn’t you just transition to your phone instead? I know my iPhone allows for multiple alarms and alerts and wouldn’t be surprised if there’s an app that will play music as an alert too.

When I used to use my Sony CD clock radio, I’d play a gentle ocean wave disc to help me get into a deep sleep and then have two alarms to get me up.

My alarm clock lives on top of the dresser on the opposite side of the room so I have to get up to turn it off.

Good afternoon.
77/58. No humidity and a slight breeze. No rain.

Enjoyed last night's Passover Seder at my wife's bosses home (since neither of our kids and my home). We have had our own Seder for almost 30 years and this time was the first time we went to someone elses home. Wierd.

Four ceremonial cups of wine. The welcoming of a vist from the Prophet Elijah. Lots of good foods: Brisket, Matzoh balls and a bunch of other traditional foods. Lots of FINE wines. Next Year in Jerusalem!

Cigars too, but not for me. Just wasn't into the selection...

**** mansion+++. 10,000+ sq ft. Furniture and decorator had to have been like $500k.

I guess the "other half" lives real good. Brick wall

That sounds really cool, especially in the mansion. I hope you and your wife enjoyed it. May I ask a stooopit question? It’s about the wine. I know it is ceremonial. Do you drink 4 full servings? Or do you just have a sip and that’s “good enough “. If there is an alcoholic or T-totaler, do they have an option that still gets them under the wire? Isn’t lamb the meat usually served?
I guess that’s a passel of stupid questions. You don’t need to answer them, I won’t be offended if you don’t.

I am like Danm, my alarm clock is across the room on the dresser so i have to get up to turn it off (even though I usually wake up before it goes off). Also, I just don't want my cell phone in the bedroom. I leave it in the kitchen when I go to bed, grab it in the AM.

My wife uses her iphone on her nighstand, but for me, it gives off too much light and would bother me at night right next to me.

I was kinda, sorta wondering the same thing.

The other questions I had for Robert are, “Does your wife’s boss know you’re a cigar smoker? If so, what was his reaction when you declined to smoke?”

I’mma guessing there weren’t any Cubans or iffin’ there were, only a buncha Jose Piedra’s, Quai d’Orsay’s, Quintero’s and the like. d'oh!

Afternoon, folks...

Tryna get my cigar lounge squared away. Got the plexiglass (holy shiznit that's expensive stuff!), the fan and such... just trying to get everything cut to size and weather stripped. Final inspection on the wall/doors/windows by the city is tomorrow.

I am not offended in any way at all.

Traditionally, one would drink four, filled-over-the-brim, ceremonial goblets (Kiddush cup), after a little too much is over-poured and rolls down the sides- it is a blessing for the symbolism that one's "cup runneth over. The four glasses would be consumed over about a four hour ceremonial meal. But, only Orthodox Jews would certainly drink four (cups).

We aren't Orthodox, and we definitely don't drink four glasses of wine. Just sips or gulps (if it's good!). As to an alcoholic or t-totaler: Simply use ceremonial grape juice ("fruit of the vine").

The roasted lamb shank symbolizes the lamb shanks Jews used to mark their doors with lamb blood before the 10th Plague so that they would be spared from: "The Death of the First Born." It is not eaten by anyone I know, but could be eaten by some Orthodox sects.

Just bought a new(er) house in 2022. Only 4 years old. Yuge kitchen, plenty of counter space and cupboard space. She has a walk in closet that could fit a couple rollaway beds and every inch of it is hers. I got one little corner. She also has the nook off the kitchen all set up as a sitting area.

However... one of the 4 BR's is my man cave... the garage is set up to smoke cigars and drink whiskey, as well as house all my yard tools and hand tools... and now the sunroom is another "cigar and whiskey bar". I ain't complaining about closet space, ya know?

Everything is done. I'm not setting anything up until the inspector is done. I'm sure he won't give a damn how I have the space set up but I want him to be able to look at everything and slide the windows and such.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

I love my kids more than one can imagine but my Son (who is not the best at cooking) wants to make tacos and stuff for dinner tomorrow. No worries go for it. I support your effort to learn how to cook beyond box mac and cheese or ramen noodles. We have plenty of food to cook so start with easy stuff. Cooking flavorful and healthy day to day stuff is not that hard nor requires a lot of time.

Asian food or pizza delivery is a backup plan but I didn't say that to him. I support his desire to learn how to cook but it's always good to have a backup plan.

The kitchen might be a mess but part of cooking is cleaning up the dishes and stuff. That's part of the deal so I got that going for me

rfenst, thank you very much. That is moving, to recognize one’s blessings and symbolize it with an overflowing cup, or Kiddush as you explained. This is very interesting and gives me one more insight, something I can respect and relate to. Thanks again.

rfenst is hard to offend and easy to talk to. Like many of the active folks here, he's a good one.

I don't think that over the years I've been here, I've had any serious gripes with anyone. We are all different but in many ways all the same. I disagree with some and some disagree with me but I don't take it personally and I hope that they don't either. If I cross a line then I would hope and expect (rightly so) to be called out on it.

Group hug.

(Drafter, that is not the hug I was looking for... keep your hands to yourself)

Oh man, completely forgot about that one! d'oh!

I can’t remember the last time I had one but also don’t know when’s the last time I saw one in a bakery. My guess is that there are too many “wannabe” bakers (e.g., in-store bakeries) and the true old-time ones are few and far in-between so the wannabes make the popular, fast sellers rather than a wide variety that shows their expertise and artistry.

Fo’ sure I’mma gonna hafta look for a BC doughnut next time I”mma in a real bakery. Thanks Jeff! ThumpUp

I've been staying away from sweets. Limiting carbs, too. I had a DQ vanilla cone today, but it's been awhile soI allowed the indulgence. Got a pup cup for Tank.

That said... A boston creme donut from dunkies would trip me up. Kinda hard to say no to that if it's right there, ya know?

One mom surgery down, another one scheduled for next eeek.
The bright spot of today was helping out an old high buddy with a physical therapy appointment.

Having a cigar now, watching some soccer.

Tomorrow, Crown Prep Day.
