Wouldn’t like Oregon weather in the winter months. I’ll stick to Az for year round but happy to be gone some weeks each summer in July-Aug

Morning, peoples. We're loading up the bicycles to ride around the region this weekend, preferably between cloudbursts. Not as fast as a Harley, nor as loud, nor as cool... but they say good for the heart. So there's that at least

Another 90 degree day here on the gulf coast. 60% chance of rain and storms today.

I went to an orthopedist yesterday fully expecting to set a date for a hip re[placement. After speaking with doc, I decided to try a shot and see how the hip reacts. It has been less than 24 hours but I'm liking the results. Only time will tell how long the shot will last but hopefully I can stiff arm the replacement down the road for a couple of years. I was able to delay a knee replacement for probably 2.5 years thanks to three series of shots. The shot yesterday wasn't bad, no worse than taking one in the knee.

Today, I'm off to to pain management for ablations to the c-spine. I will be bobble headed for a couple of days but then I can try out the improved hip

Morning folks. A nice 56/82 in Salem and headed out for a walk along the river park before breakfast. Winery visit this afternoon. Found a good cigar bar near our B&B while the wife does some shopping.

wishing you the best with your hip and spine problems. Be careful not to overdo the cortisone...some side effects can cause damage and if you have diabetes, it can raise blood sugar levels.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/cortisone-shots/about/pac-20384794

That said, I got relief from knee pain before replacement surgery. The cortisone was so effective, I was able to walk long distances pain free with a bone on bone, splintered meniscus, misaligned patella damaged knee. I am now awaiting surgery on my thumb/wrist and got a cortisone shot until then, in October. The pain is gone and I can use my left hand again.

Good luck, Bro!

Hang in there, it's tough to balance short-term relief, long-term repairs, and recovery time mixed with the tendency of men to be stoic and possibly let a condition get past easy repair. Not much help, but I can say you're not alone.

I had a cortisone injection in my right knee in the late 90’s and that held me until 2005 when I had to have the knee scoped. The knee was scoped again at the end of 2011 and after that I began what at the time, was commonly called rooster cone injections. I had three different series of these and that allowed me to stiff arm my first knee replacement for almost three years. That is what I’m hoping to do with the hip. Presently, the hip feels so good that I’m kicking myself in the ars for not having done it much sooner.

As far as the rooster cone, it’s hyaluronic acid and now days it is a synthetic substance. Since 2012, I have had between 6-9 hyaluronic acid injections in my right knee and probably 6-7 total in both thumbs. The last one I received in my right thumb will be the last in that digit. It was the worst injection I have ever received to date. A story for a different time.

And Al, thanks for the well wishes.

And the fact of the matter is it could always be worse.

LOL At least the "Guy" part.

Actually, I had to drive my wife to her first appointment at an extensive orthopedic practice, she had rotator cuff repair surgery. While waiting for her I watched a parade of patients hobbling/crutching/wheeling into the building, yes there were many FOGuys/Gals but there were a lot of very young and middle-aged people too.

Another July day on the gulf coast. High around 90 today with 50% chance of rain/storms. I took our two Husky's for a very short walk at 0730 and the humidity was already 90%.

And today is not going to be a good day. We are having to put down our male Husky (old guy) late this afternoon. He is at least 15 and maybe a few months over. He was a rescue and was around two when we took him into our house in Oct 2009. He is down in his hips and age has caught up with him. We feed him filet last night and again morning for a special treat. If it had been up to me he would have crossed the rainbow bridge a few months earlier but the wife was not ready. And then to top things off, she brings up the fact that it has been a year and a day since we had to put his mate down.

Oh well, they are like family and in many cases a lot more likable than some humans we cross paths with.

Dang, Burner... hope everything goes well for you. I've had some issues with my left elbow. It's making my left index finger a little numb, so it has to be a nerve.

Got all the yard work done for my neighbor. Mine needs to be done, too, but it can wait. I was sweating so bad my shirt AND shorts were soaked.

I have had two sets of three of the rooster juice injections in my knee. Never seem to do any different with them in my case. I’m still hobbling along almost 5 years after my surgeon said I dad no more than 1-2 years before replacing that knee. I consider myself very lucky to be as mobile as I am.

It was never total relief but I got about 12 months first round, eight the second and maybe six the third and then it was time for the replacement. The one thing I noticed was there was never any pain with the knee injections. But with the thumbs it was a totally different story. Each subsequent injection was more painful as though the joint was less to tolerant to the injected substance.

I don't guess the humidity is very different between our two locations. After an hour or so in the yard this time of year I don't have a dry stich on anywhere. Some days I'm even sweating through the end of the bill of my cap.

Yeah... it's not pleasant. There's a hose that runs from my downspouts, under the turf, to the back of the yard. One of them is clogged and I need to snake it out. Soooooo, I need to get a long enough snake and then get out there and do it.

I noticed during yesterday's afternoon downpour that the water was flowing down the spouts just fine... but the hose was clogged because the water was coming up between the downspout and the hose. Brick wall

I've had to clear pine needles out of the gutters pretty regular. They're not going down the spouts because they all look clear, but something clogged up one of them hoses. Prolly a damn rodent.

MACS, any chance youcan put a screen filter between the downspout and the hose? Might be easier to clean out than snaking the hose from time to time.
