I've often wondered....

If your H.U.T. GETS flattened by a hurricane....

Why doesn't the insurance company just rebuild your HUT in a hurricane PROOF MODE....

THESE PLANS AND MATERIals do exist...they are not a secret...they cost twice? To three times as much....
But why not do it and keep a customer for life and split the cost between the two parties...then charge way less for future coverage.....

I think that is WAY TOO LOGICAL A PROPOSAL FOR NORMAL MINDS TO CONSIDER???

BUT IT MAKES TOTAL SENSE...

House inspection went well. One low voltage pre-wire missing for a window blind. Drywall next.

Allied Van Lines coming by shortly for a moving quote. United Van Lines on Monday.

Allied moved me to Cali and United moved me to a Texas.

Cool!
But, unless you happen to be here in the beginning of December, you will miss this years Ybor City Cigar Festival.

Closing window is Jan 18 to Feb 18. Our annual ski trip is in early February so we’ll probably miss that too.

Did you insulate interior walls to reduce sound/noise?

Hope you at least insulated around plumbing so you won't hear the shower through the walls while in the family room.

The clubhouse has two of them!

I’ve got a pool right now in my rental house as an experiment to see if I wanted a pool. Nope. Don’t want one.

I have to agree. We have 2 in our neighborhood. One at the clubhouse and 1 on the other side of the neighborhood. Had 4 pools at the HOA in CA. I think I went to the pool 10 times in 22 years.

Been to this one a handful of times already, but it's usually too flippin' hot.

PSA for HD. If you plan on having any heavy light fixtures installed, have the electricians install metal boxes for that location or a metal Fan support box that fits on the bottom of a ceiling beam.

Last night the light fixture in our entryway fell out of the ceiling and smashed into the floor. The plastic junction box it was mounted, broke apart. Luckely no one was close, we were across the living room when it fell. The light fixture was really heavy, the idiot that installed it should have known better. fog

Ouch! I don’t think we have anything special where the fans will go. We do have a 3rd party company coming in for fans and wall TVs.

We have a large chandelier that weighs about 50 lbs right inside the front doors. Think I'll walk around it from now on.

Oh yeah, it took a second to understand what happened and to see that is had missed taking out the grandfather clock. Not long after that, both of use were blessing the former friend that built the house. Brick wall

We have another chandelier in our stairwell, a large chunk of glass, but not close to the weight of the one that fell, still, I'm not going to hang out on that landing. Anxious

They should know what is needed. I think plastic is fine for switch and wall plug installations, not so much overhead, metal boxes are not that much more in cost.

Exact same thing happened to me out of the blue after 20+ years of no issues. Bad installation like you described. It's like 3 feet tall and would have killed someone had it fallen and struck them. Luckily, I was in the den watching TV when I heard it go down- and not in the hallway.

Whew! Glad no one was near the empact. We built this house in 2003 so it's about the same timeframe.

The house is substantially complete. Everything left to do requires the final electrical meter installed by Florida Power and Light so we are stalled.

We do not have a closing date yet but now expect it to be in February.

The wife is now officially retired as of today.

Happy New Year!

if I'm reading this correctly, you need to get installed to be unstalled...right?

Had a closing date of Jan 24.

Florida Power & Light installed the meter today. Final county approval inspections can now be scheduled and my next walkthrough is Jan 29.

Suggested a new close date for February 15 and move immediately thereafter.

The meter was the trigger for all the crazy busy stuff to start.

Already thinning the freezer and pantry. Will have two trips to Florida over the next four weeks and then moving day.
