3D printing one of these just for fun

I suspect there will be a handful of disks that might not found in the future.

Friday's don't really seem like a big deal any more. Mellow

Back and biceps day in da gym. I used to be able to do pullups pretty well. It's a bit of a struggle now, but getting better at it again. Using different bands to assist. Weaker one until failure, then I switch to a stronger one to failure, then I use both of them.

Best weather day all week. I'd much rather have crummy weather at the end than the beginning, makes leaving so much easier

Mini golf today, then pool. We all got sunburned yesterday

Fridays are still shining silver, if not golden to me. Means my work week is over, I’ve taken care of the necessary issues on Wednesday and Thursday, opening up Friday for fun. A true Retired Guy Day. Fridays are also often domino games at the lounge. A watering hole of sorts for a bunch of us animals to share stories, jokes and general silliness.

It’s like a near-weekly herf.

Dropping temps today. Two mile dog walk complete.
Two egg omelet with spinach, garlic, a mixture of cheeses, and a slice of tomato all within a toasted Everything Bagel. Yum.

Second cup of coffee in progress.

In Boca Raton overnight to receive deliveery of daughters furnature for her new apartment. Hope to hit the rod by 4pm and get home before 7:30pm.

Went to Ruth's Chris last night with my best friend from law school. Yapped back and forth for 1.5 hours before even ordering. We were in school 52 years ago and haven't seen each other in like 20 years. This time, no wives or children. GREAT TIME!!!

Now I have to set-up my daughter's new bed frame...

I absolutely crushed the gym workout... had a protein/creatine shake with blueberries, strawberries and spinach.

Cooking diced chicken thighs with onion, garlic, red pepper and mushrooms... gonna have that over some rice with broccoli later.

It's just a hobby sized unit. It's a Bambu A1 Mini with the 4 color automatic material system (can feed 4 different filaments for multi color or multi filament prints). Before buying it I watched a bunch of reviews with both pluses and minus. For a hobby printer, it's one that has set the bar higher and is above and beyond others in same realm.

Here's one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GzlQHsvsUA

Max piece size is 180x180x180 mm prints (7x7x7 inches). Also, the heated print bed and print head temperatures limits it to the common PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA filament along with those in the same family of plastic that use glass fiber or carbon fiber reinforced additions for added strength but those additives lead to extra abrasion wear on the extrusion print head. However print heads for this unit are only about $10 (+S&H) and if using the carbon fiber or glass fiber filaments, one should pick hardened steel one vs stainless steel for better wear resistance. They will both last quite a long time for hobby printing. Other printers use brass nozzles that have a shorter life.

It doesn't come with an enclosure so printing stuff using plastics that kinda out gas when melted and like to be printed in a warmer surrounding like ABS and ASA, it is not recommended due to shrinkage as it solidifies plastic solidifies. You can, however, put a plexiglass enclosure around it if you want to keep any off gassing inside and help keep the inside environment warmer and free from outside drafts thereby limiting the fast temp change going from liquid to solid.

I like the thing but I'm not going to be printing anything suspicious. Maybe I should start printing some plastic bricks and build a new house or sometin' but that would take too long.

A cigar ashtray... now that is something I should look into and see if there is a model on the webs to download.

Going to bed for the last night of vacation.

Alarm is set for 0430 I want to be rolling out by 5.

Parents are moving to a single room tomorrow so we cooked the last of all the food and reheated leftovers and had ourselves a feast. Won't need breakfast till first fuel stop.

Can't wait to see kitty n puppy dog. I also miss my pillow. These hotel pillows suck and my neck has been hurting all week. Should've brought mine but didn't think about it.

Sleeping in your own bed is under rated. When I go on vacation, it's nice. Equally nice is to get back home and unwind from vacation. I like vacations but I also like a couple days of staycation.

With that said, I woke up this morning and had an aching back. It wasn't a spine thing more like rear rib cage thing. As if I did a body slam but it was not a front rib cage ache but the back rib cage thingy. I didn't do any extracurricular activities that would cause this. Eventually it went away by the end of the day.

You know age is creeping up on you when you sometimes wake up in the morning and have aches in areas that didn't ache before and you cannot not attributed it to something that you did the day before.

Maybe I have back rib muscle and bone cancer or something. I've never heard of it, I just made it up.

Speaking of ribs... that sounds like something that I should cook this weekend. Not mine those but from a pig or a cow.

I like it. At work we have a Prusa MK3S+. We just use it to print some small prototype models before we lock into a final design for a human sized product. The MK3 It has a bit larger print bed but it's like 4 yrs old or so the big guy at work asked me to look into and upgrade the current Prusa. Based on my looking into it I recommended a Bambu X1-C.

I've not been involved with 3D printing so it was a learning experience for me. Prusa pretty much dominated the arena of printers in this area for about 5 yrs or so. Then Bambu popped in and took everything that was was out there and folded it into their products to make a leap forward while Prusa was sitting in their comfort zone. When Bambu hit the market to compete against Prusa, Prusa rushed some of their printers and software to try to keep up. Too little and too late.

In my opinion, Prusa has a ways to go to catch up both on the machines and the slicing software.

Currently at work, I told the Prusa MK3S+ to print some models. Printer says it will take 17 hrs to print... whatever. I just uploaded the files at the end of the day and told it to print. When we get the X1-C, it will be able to print the same models in half the time and at better quality. Damn it! That was on the to do list: order the printer It's only like $1,200 or so and way better and less expensive than the Prusa comparable thing (mental note: order the printer on Monday).

If I want, I could log into the Bambu located at work from my phone or computer at home and view it printing. I could correct printing errors, tell it to change filaments, tell it to stop, start or send it a new thing to print, for example, a soap dish or a rubber band gun. Same with my home hobby one. If I have an internet connection and the printer is connected to the internet, I could send a model of Yoda. Tell it to print whatever I want as long as I have the filament loaded up.

One downside, which applies to all 3D printers, is they can only print one plate at a time. A human needs to take off the printing plate, remove the printed item and put the plate back on. Pretty simple but still needs some human intervention. What would be cool is if they could have a 6 gun revolver type of thing. When one plate is done printing it would twist another clean plate into the printing area and print onto the fresh plate

All relatives are mostly aliens, especially after 3 days. Read it again, it's Anderson Island, not far from Tacoma. Beautiful house about 50 ft above the water with great views but ya have to take a ferry to get there.

Wife went to the store today (next county over bc this county doesn't have a store) and the bologna I get for my lunches is up to $7.78 plus tax. To me that's insane. It's bologna, not steak. Lol

Couple yrs ago it was 3 or 4 dollars.

I tried testing the low fuel signal on my Honda CR-V recently. It starts giving me a signal with 30 miles left per the algorithm so I just kept driving until it said 0. Pulled into Costco and filled up the 15 gallon tank with 12.2 gallons. The car gets over 30mpg so I still had about 85 miles before it was really empty. WTF?

2nd fuel stop a bit north of Atlanta.

Lost almost an hour in Atlanta traffic. Where 75 and 85 split, 85 was closed or 1 lane so even tho I had 100 miles to go we made a stop cause my ass was numb.

Ooooof. I try to avoid the Atlanta area. Went through some real pretty country roads on my way back from CA last year. Speed limits were lower, but I did 70 anyway. Mellow
